UNIT 2 #6 from Nature

The story has a way of saying everyhting is part of one. This like the Transcendentalists who believe all humans share one soul. The story tells you to not be retarted and try to figure out nature just enjoy that its all around you. The trancendentalist also believe there is no way of knowing how anything works. They also enjoy everything around them and believe god who put it there for them to enjoy. They both believe the mind is away of talking to god and being a part of nature.
"Standing on the bareground-my head bathed by the blithe air, and uplifted into intinite space- all mean egotism canishes. I become a transparent eyeball. i am nothing. I see all".
I used this quote, because it explains how you can feel as part of nature.

UNIT 2 # 5 from Nature

This story to me is something we really all should try to do. It seems as if its away to be stress free and not worry so much about problems you may have in life. Enjoying the amazing things god has created is one of the most best things you can do do, because nature really is beautiful. This Essay reminds me of a day at the lake when you watch the moon sit right above it. This is a part of nature that really calms me down a feel apart from the real world.

"Nature always wears the colors of the spirit".
This quote stood out to me due to when im at the lake all the colors and things around me shows happiness and enjoyment.

UNIT 2 #4

1)I have used this standard by when I answer a question I have to put direct evidence from the passage supporting what i said.

2)Lookin for the theme helped me really realize what the stories were about. By knowind the theme it helps you understand what you need to get from the story.

3)You use alot of comparing such as logic from non logic. You take things that was written in the past and put it in away you can understand it now.

UNIT 2 #3

1-You imagine that nature is talking to you.
"All that tred
The globe are but a handful to the tribes
That slumber in its bosom".

2-It tells you that when you get scared of death turn to nature to help you.
"Go forth, under the open sky, and list
To Nature's teachings, while from all around-
Earth and her waters, and the depths of air--
Comes a still voive".

3-Says that when regular people die the same thing happens to people who may be a higher rank of people such as kings.
"Thou shalt lie down
With patriarchs of the infant world -- with kings,
The powerful of the earth -- the wise, the good,
fair forms, and hoary seers of ages past,
All in one mighty sepulchre".

UNIT 2 #2

-He describes how beautiful nature is by talking about how the mountains are very beautiful and how the sky brings out their shapes. They also speak of how good it was to be in the antiquity village. This shows how you get away from the dirty slobby city and live good so this uses romanticism.

For example, Irving writes, "Every change of season, every change of weather, indeed every hour of the day, produces some change in the magical hues and shapes of these mountains,and they are regarded by all the good wives, far and near, as perfect
barometers."

-"On entering the amphitheatre, new objects of wonder presented
themselves. On a level spot in the centre was a company of odd-looking
personages playing at nine-pins".

This quote is about elfs that van winkle had seen who gave him magic liquor that put him to sleep for a while. When he finally woke up after a lone period of time, he found everything he knew of before was way different. This explains why this is not logic. You have to use your imagination because nothing like this could happen in real life.

UNIT 2 #1

The standard to me means that in everyones writing there is always a theme. The way we write it helps us determine the theme. In the writing we put supporting details of the main idea which also helps finding the theme. It also tells us there is always going to be a theme it just the process of figuring it out.

Theme is a unifying or dominant idea of a piece of writing.

UNIT 1 #9

9.) These standards were used through this unit by giving us questions that want us to compare and contrast different things. We had to give examples of things and take something and turn it around to put it how u feel about it. When i found a poem i had to then write about how i felt about what they wrote in it. This poem related to back then to life now. Heres an emapole of one thing I wrote about the poem

My example to me is something everyone should reflect on. It tells you to be thankful for life and all the things that come in it. It also tells you that if your not thankful it is something that you choose and you wont be judged for. It shows us how god gave us life for a reason, and we should be thankful that we had a chance to live it.

I feel I could reach moral perfection if i really tried my best. All my morals give me ways to become a better person. These are ways people now could live a good life, being happy without doing things that could get them into trouble. Everything you do depends on yourself and noone else so thats why i believe i could reach it. It would not be easy, but if i set my mind on it i could reach it.

UNIT 1 #7

7.) Benjamin is a good example of rationalist due to how he set his morals. He depends on making himself better not by asking god to do it for him. He uses logic to do this. He feels he is a bad person and must do this to make him a better person. As he said "I wished to live without committing any fault at any time". Also he said "I would conquer all that either natural inclination, custon, or company might lead me into". This proves how he takes it upon himself to improve.
